Now, let’s get into the review🌸

Do you love stories about troubled marriages, second chances, and redemption? Do you enjoy reading about powerful and ambitious characters who face moral dilemmas and emotional challenges? If you answered yes, then you might want to check out King of Greed, the third book in the Kings of Sin series by Ana Huang, one of my favorite and insta-read authors. This book is a standalone second chance romance that follows Dominic and Alessandra Davenport, a married couple who seem to have it all, but are secretly falling apart. In this review, I will share with you my thoughts on this book.

TRIGGER WARNINGS:

  • Death
  • Mild Violence
  • Mention of child abandonment/ abuse

"Loving someone wasn't enough if I didn't show it. Appreciating them wasn't enough if I didn't express it."

I rated this book 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars. Here's why, I really liked it, but I also had some minor issues with it. One of them was that it was kind of predictable, as I could guess some of the plot twists and the outcome of the story. Another one was that there was just something missing, something that made me feel completely satisfied and blown away by the book. It wasn’t as amazing as the first two books in the series, which had more originality and intensity. But I still love Ana and her books, I am loyal to her forever 😂💖 and I think she is a talented and versatile author. PERIODT!

💗Characters💗

One of the strengths of this book is the character development of both Dominic and Alessandra. They are both complex and flawed characters who undergo significant changes throughout the story. Dominic is a ruthless and ambitious businessman who has built a successful empire on Wall Street. He is obsessed with work and money, and neglects his wife and their marriage. Alessandra is a beautiful and smart woman who married Dominic when they were young and in love. She is supportive and loyal, but also independent and strong. She is unhappy and lonely in her marriage, and feels like she has lost herself and her dreams. She decides to leave him and start a new life, but he is not willing to let her go without a fight. He vows to win her back and prove that he can change, but will it be enough to heal the wounds of the past and restore their love?
I loved how the author showed the growth and transformation of both characters, as they faced their own issues, such as greed, insecurity, and guilt, as well as the challenges of their world, such as competition, manipulation, and danger. They also had to confront their past and their feelings, and decide if they still had a future together. They learned to communicate, compromise, and trust each other, and to balance their personal and professional lives. They also rediscovered their passion and romance, and realized what truly mattered to them. And we love a good communication.
A special mention for Roman 🤭🥵🫶🏽🖤 I WANT HIS BOOK.

💗World Building💗

Another strength of this book is the world building of Wall Street, where the stakes are high and the competition is fierce. Ana did a great job of creating a realistic and immersive setting, where the characters had to deal with the pressure, the temptation, and the consequences of their actions. She also explored some interesting themes, such as the nature of greed, the meaning of success, and the importance of balance and happiness in life. She also used vivid descriptions, witty dialogue, and emotional expressions to bring the story to life. I also liked the use of Portuguese words and phrases, which added some flavor and authenticity to the characters and their culture.

💗Plot💗

The plot of this book is a steamy and captivating second chance romance, full of twists and turns, suspense and tension, as the couple faces various obstacles and conflicts, both internal and external. The plot is also rich in emotion and passion, and has some steamy and sexy scenes that made me blush. (The spice y'all🥵). The plot is a perfect balance of romance, drama, and mystery, and kept me hooked until the very end.

💗Tone💗

The tone of this book is mostly serious and intense, as it deals with some heavy and dark topics, such as death, mild violence etc. However, there are also some light and humorous moments, especially when the secondary characters (From the previous books in the series) are involved, or when the couple banters and teases each other. The tone also shifts to romantic and sweet, when the couple expresses their love and affection for each other, or when they reminisce about their past.

💗Enjoyment💗

I enjoyed reading this book a lot, as it made me feel a range of emotions, from anger and frustration, to sympathy and admiration, to sadness and joy. I was invested in the characters and their relationship, and I was rooting for them to find their way back to each other. I also liked the secondary characters, such as Dominic’s brothers (ROMANNNNN) and Alessandra’s friends (Vivian, Isabella, Sloane) who added some humor and support to the story. I also appreciated the author’s writing style, which was smooth and engaging, and made me want to read more of her books. (which I will. Forever.)
